“It’s probably the best move I ever made… Every base is covered.” – David Goldenberg, resident of The Watermark at Logan Square
MEET DAVID GOLDENBERG WHO LOVES HIS NEW LIFE IN CENTER CITY.
You can learn a lot from someone who has been in your shoes. Their honest insight can help you navigate your way to the place that’s right for you, regardless of which community you choose. (All quotes contained in this post are excerpts from an interview conducted with David Goldenberg on Wednesday, May 14th, 2014. To read the full, un-edited transcript, please click here.)
After retiring from Strauss Greenberg in Philadelphia, David moved to an Atlantic City high rise. A health situation convinced him to move closer to his family in Lower Merion and his son’s law partner recommended that David look at The Watermark. Compared to other options David considered, including an apartment complex in Bala Cynwyd, David much preferred the bustling Center City location. Now, after almost three years at The Watermark, he admits his life has been enriched in surprising ways by new friendships. “I think that, being here, that the key ingredient, the success of this building, are the people. I have never in my life met so many smart people.” – David Goldenberg
IT’S TIME TO GET MOVING
Things that are new can be scary at first, like a new job, relationship or a new home. But everyone knows you have to overcome fear in order to embrace new experiences to live life at its best. David Goldenberg knew that the future would bring new challenges. He’s grateful he faced his fears and plunged ahead. Thanks to today’s wide array of excellent retirement living options, he was able to cover all his bases with one wise move. It’s easy to stay connected and engaged at The Watermark at Logan Square. In fact, everything’s easier here. Every day holds the possibility to meet fascinating people and experience exciting new adventures. Plus, living in Center City puts David in the heart of a vibrant culture that’s always inspiring. “You get to that point where you say, ‘Oh, you got to jump in and see if you can swim’ and I did and it’s been a win-win all the way.” – David Goldenberg
LIFE MADE SIMPLE
On-site doctors make David’s primary care visits a breeze and convenient services like housekeeping, maintenance and chef-prepared meals give him a welcome break from chores he never enjoyed doing himself. Upkeep on his Margate home was “a never ending situation.” Now, he’s free to enjoy museums, ballgames with his grandkids and “nights out on the town” even if it’s just a Friday night with friends at The Mark, located right here in the community. Without the expense and hassles of a car, David can hail a cab or take a free bus ride to any restaurant in town. Still, dinnertime usually finds him right at home for all the best reasons. “I have never, ever had a bad meal here… the good news is that I have nothing to do with shopping or preparing.” – David Goldenberg
THRIVING AT THE HEART OF IT ALL
Having had an office at Locust Street and 17th, David was already quite familiar with the area, but little did he know how much fun it would be to live here. “I know Center City very well and this is a revelation, what’s happening here with, not just burgeoning with people, but young people with families and you know the parks are nearby, the museums are here, everything is within walking distance and, of course, they have bus service to get you any place you want to go.” – David Goldenberg
