“I’ve got to tell you, it’s one of the best decisions I ever made.” – David Goldenberg, resident of The Watermark at Logan Square

You can learn a lot from someone who has been in your shoes. Their honest insight can help you navigate your way to the place that’s right for you, regardless of which community you choose. David worked in commercial real estate in Center City for most of his life. So moving to The Watermark from Atlantic City four years ago felt like coming home. While he could have kept his car, he happily gave it to his grandchildren. Now he just hops on Watermark’s bus loop or hails a cab to go anywhere in the city and joins community outings to visit breweries and wineries, hot air balloon launches and more. David has become such an advocate of Watermark’s lifestyle, he even joined the welcoming committee. He not only enjoys helping newcomers get acclimated, he also encourages everyone to attend a Discovery Luncheon with friends or relatives.

When David Goldenberg talks about his life at The Watermark, with all of its friendships, intellectual discussions, fine dining, music and cultural offerings, his unbridled enthusiasm is contagious. However, had a health scare not prompted his move to The Watermark four years ago, David might still be stuck in his Atlantic City high rise, driving when he probably shouldn’t and relying on friends and family for basic necessities. In retrospect, his safe landing at The Watermark was fortuitous. Waiting for a life crisis to make critical decisions is a big mistake. Why not start planning your best future today? “The key here is the people. And the staff, there’s nothing they won’t do for you if they can. It’s home. I’ve never looked at it any other way and I’ve got to say that I’m just glad I made the move.” – David Goldenberg

David was living in Atlantic City when he was suddenly hospitalized with a brain bleed. Although he fully recovered, his doctor advised him to move closer to his kids, for his own welfare and theirs. David had not been to The Watermark since its complete transformation from a hospital-like setting into a luxury Continuing Care Retirement Community. He loved everything about it from the start. Now, with his family just 20 minutes away, he enjoys his independence, and so do they. “The facility is first class as far as the apartment, the care, there are doctors here who want to now become my primary physician and the facility itself, you know, you can’t ask for a better location.” – David Goldenberg

While David is within easy reach of all the best restaurants in Philadelphia, one of his favorites is just an elevator ride away. Excellent dining choices are only the beginning. “The arts and music, they’ve got a million things you can choose from, movies during the week, in the evening the dining facility is actually sensational because you go to dinner and you’ve got…at least three or four choices for entrées, soups, just wonderful things. The chef is excellent. The people that are the wait staff, they become like part of your family.” – David Goldenberg
