REAP THE REWARDS
The bigger the obstacles, the greater the rewards. Eight years ago, Ann overcame giant hurdles to secure the best future.
“…we had lived in a lovely apartment in Washington for some 35 or 36 years. It was going to be a huge move for us. My husband was not keen on the idea. I also had a Siamese cat who did not wish to move so my work was cut out for me.” – Ann Robinson, resident of The Watermark at Logan Square
MEET ANN ROBINSON, WHOSE MOVE HOME TO CENTER CITY EIGHT YEARS AGO CONTINUES TO REWARD HER.
You can learn a lot from someone who has been in your shoes. Their honest insight can help you navigate your way to the place that’s right for you, regardless of which community you choose. (All quotes contained in this post are excerpts from an interview conducted with Ann Robinson on Friday, May 5th, 2017. To read the full, un-edited transcript, please click here.)
It took eight Discovery Luncheons for Ann to convince her husband, Armand, that moving from D.C. to The Watermark at Logan Square was a good decision. Thanks to senior relocation experts, their move was easy; they simply walked into their two-bedroom, two-bath apartment overlooking the Delaware River and felt right at home, in the heart of Center City. “I’ve been here nearly eight years and have not regretted the decision one day. It’s just been extraordinary. It’s absolutely perfect for me, and for Armand while he was alive, because it allowed me to go to a meeting, to be away for a couple of hours knowing fully that he was in good care, which was a big relief….” – Ann Robinson
A TIME FOR ALL REASONS
If you’re seeking excuses to stay put, you’ll always find them. On the other hand, you may be as ready today as you’re ever going to be to begin reaping the benefits of retirement community living. With so much to look forward to, the sooner you make a plan, the sooner you’ll enjoy carefree living, friendships and so much more. Isn’t it time you started recognizing all the compelling reasons for moving to the right retirement community? “…the dynamic is very different if you walk in the front door looking forward to starting a new chapter in your life and all of the activities and interesting fun that will provide, or you come in the front door counting the days until you go to whatever great reward awaits you. So I encourage people to make the decision early rather than late.” – Ann Robinson
SUPPORT WHEN YOU NEED IT
Besides its ideal location, The Watermark offered Ann and Armand a way to thrive together, despite his declining health due to vascular dementia. “When my husband, Armand, died in 2012, I felt the support of the community tremendously. They just sort of wrapped their arms around me and got me through the process that so many of them had been through. I continued to enjoy the city and The Watermark community for a few years by myself and then I met one David Goodchild and we just recently celebrated our first wedding anniversary. And he has moved into The Watermark and is enjoying it as much as I.” – Ann Robinson
FREEDOM OF ENDLESS CHOICES
Even before she moved in, Ann purchased season tickets to the Philadelphia Opera, Philadelphia Orchestra, Walnut Street Theatre, Temple football and basketball. And those are just a few of the options Watermark neighbors have at their fingertips. “In terms of the activities, if you are bored here at The Watermark, you have the problem. There’s something going on all the time, day trips, museums, musicians coming in, going to the Philadelphia Orchestra, going shopping…we have a little bus that goes around Center City seven times a day.”
