A Day Away in Cape May

On a gorgeous day, Thursday, September 28th, we went on a fantastic trip to Cape May, NJ to ride on a ferry!

We had 6 residents on the trip. We left Watermark around 8:30 A.M. After about a 2 hour bus ride, we finally arrived at the Washington Street Mall in Cape May, NJ.  We walked around for an hour at the Street Mall in Cape May.  With almost 100 locally owned specialty shops boasting a myriad of handmade merchandise, this three block promenade was considered one of the five most pleasant pedestrian malls in the nation.  While strolling through these shops, we also had an ample opportunity to take a relaxing break on a comfortable bench to admire the attractive street scenes and architecture.  They had many cute stores and we had a great time window shopping!

Then, we had a lunch at Tisha’s Restaurant a quaint sit-down eatery offering a menu of New American dishes, plus sandwiches, burgers, appetizers and salads.  It was located in the middle of the Washington Street Mall.  The food at the restaurant was so delicious! The residents ordered some hamburgers and mushroom & scallop risotto.  We were very satisfied with the good food and their great service.

Then, our next voyage was by boat as we journeyed across the Delaware Bay on the Cape May-Lewes Ferry.  It was nice walking into the ferry through the bridge made of glass.  The view was beautiful!  It was nice and breezy during the ferry ride, and It was very relaxing cruising past historic lighthouses, picturesque harbors & local wildlife.  We were looking for some whales and dolphin pod escort but couldn’t find any.  All the residents sat outside on the bench and enjoyed the great weather.  The ferry ride was about 45 minutes, and walking to the bus from the ferry was very smooth.

Then, we stopped at the ice cream shop in Lewes before traveling back to The Watermark.  That was the best way to wrap up this fantastic trip with some delicious homemade ice cream!

Although it was a long trip, all the residents seemed to have a wonderful time!!
