As the summer days dwindle, we are doing our best to get out and enjoy the warm weather while it lasts. Last week our Executive Director, Jennifer Tapner, opened her beautiful beach home to a busload of residents for a day in Brigantine. Our beach-going residents arrived wearing their best summery outfits, and we enjoyed a wonderful day at the beach. Residents went to the beach, walked around the adorable town, and enjoyed a delicious barbecue. It was a perfect day to spend outside, and we are so grateful to Jennifer for welcoming us into her home.
The next day we took a second trip down to the beach, but this time our eyes were on the skies! August in Atlantic City means it is time for the annual airshow, Thunder Over the Boardwalk. We went to Atlantic City the day before to enjoy the thrill of the airshow without the crazy crowds. Residents enjoyed an afternoon of gambling in the casinos and strolling on the boardwalk, but most of us were waiting for the airshow rehearsal to begin! The GEICO Skytypers got the show started with some beautiful skywriting, wrapping up their display with a beautiful giant heart over the ocean. The US Air Force Thunderbirds dazzled us with an incredible display of death-defying stunts, complete with barrel rolls and bone-rattling sonic booms as they zoomed overhead. People of all ages came out to see the airshow, and it was wonderful to see everyone enjoying this annual tradition.
