“A Salute to Service” Memorial Day Ceremony

On May 24th, we honored our residents who served in the military with “A Salute to Service” Memorial Day ceremony. Linda Simon from Compassus Hospice ran a beautiful program to acknowledge our proud Veteran residents. A majority came to be honored and thanked for their service. We commemorated their bravery and the sacrifice of lost soldiers by having each veteran place a carnation into the wreath. Veterans also received a beautiful keepsake to take with them. Stars for our Troops is an organization that takes the embroidered stars from retired US flags and re-purposes them into a memento for those who have served. The star was framed with the following message: “I am part of our American flag that has flown over the USA. I can no longer fly. The sun and winds caused me to become tattered and torn. Please carry me as a reminder that You are not forgotten.” We are honored to have so many Veteran residents in our community.
